Come dressed in bright, joyful colours inspired by a summer sunrise. Think mango yellow, marigold, coral, peach, warm pink, and touches of turquoise in light, comfortable attire. Traditional Indian attire is warmly encouraged, though not required. As the festivities may bring a little water and playful mischief, choose something you will not mind getting a little splashed.

Kalyanam is the hour in which two souls, long drawn toward one another by unseen threads, are joined beneath the blessings of those who came before. With every vow and ritual, two journeys become one, as though their paths had been winding toward this moment since the first light touched the world. Thus is the Eternal Knot bound, not merely for a day, but for all the chapters yet unwritten.
Srinivasa Perumal Temple, Batu Caves
Gombak, 68100 Batu Caves, Selangor, Malaysia

As our Kalyanam will take place within the sacred setting of Batu Caves Temple, we kindly ask all guests to wear respectful, temple-appropriate attire. Traditional Indian attire is warmly encouraged, with clothing suited to a place of worship. Guests will also be asked to remove their shoes before entering the temple, so we recommend choosing footwear that is easy to slip on and off.

When dusk settles and the first stars awaken, the glasshouse comes alive with light, music, and merriment. With the Eternal Knot now bound, kin and friends gather around the feast to raise a glass, share in laughter, and celebrate the joining of two families. Thus begins the revel beneath the stars, a night of feasting, dancing, and stories yet to be written.

Long before their paths entwined, they moved through the world beneath different skies.

The Telugu bride, born in Malaysia, carried the warmth of the sun with her, confident, spirited, and always drawn toward adventure. In her teenage years, her journey carried her across the sea to Canada.

The Malayali groom, born in India, was of a quieter nature, calm, steady, and composed, like the moon. His own path had brought him to Canada at the age of ten.
For years, they lived seemingly separate lives, unaware that their roads had already begun to draw near. Their homes stood scarcely fifteen minutes apart, yet the time for their paths to cross had not come. Not yet.
For those who simply must know about careers, accomplishments, and all the other important details, their LinkedIn profiles await. You know who you are.

On November 14, 2016, fate finally decided that fifteen minutes was close enough.Their paths crossed at the Muay Thai National Championships, where both had volunteered for the day. Their eyes met more than once, and both did their best to ignore the matter entirely.
That lasted until the post-event dinner. The groom discovered that the bride loved anime and, in a moment of great confidence, claimed he knew Japanese. Unfortunately for him, she spoke it fluently. Fortunately for him, she found the attempt charming. As it turned out, they had even been training at the same Muay Thai gym, moving through the same rooms and routines without ever truly finding the time to know one another.
Then fate, apparently, decided subtlety had gone on long enough. During a Muay Thai practice, the bride landed an elbow on the groom so perfectly that he ended up in the hospital needing stitches. Somewhere between the bruises, the laughter, and what would forever become known as Cupid’s Elbow, something shifted, quietly beginning a story neither of them could ignore any longer. Romance, as it turned out, required several stitches.

What began as a chance meeting soon became a shared adventure, with journeys across borders, countless movie nights, and more than a few evenings spent wandering through imagined worlds. They bonded over fantasy, The Lord of the Rings, Dungeons & Dragons, and the sort of wonderfully nerdy things that make ordinary days feel a little more enchanted.
Some quests required passports. Others required dice, snacks, and a irrational amount of commitment to fictional worlds. Somewhere along the road, the sun and moon found their rhythm, different in nature, yet always moving in the same direction.

What began as an ordinary evening of dinner and rest slowly unfolded into something touched by starlight. Together, the bride and groom rode by horse-drawn carriage beneath the darkened trees, following a winding path through the woods until they came upon the warm glow of a waiting fire. From the shadows, their families emerged, as though the night itself had gathered those they loved to witness what was to come.
When the bride turned back, the groom was waiting on one knee, ring in hand, the firelight dancing around him. Borrowing words from a tale dear to them both, he looked at her and said, “If ever I was to marry someone, it would be you.” And beneath the quiet trees, surrounded by flame, stars, and those closest to their hearts, two wandering paths became a promise to walk as one through all the years still waiting beyond the horizon.

And so the road leads here.
After years of laughter, adventure, companionship, and a promise made beneath the stars, two lives already deeply entwined now gather before family, tradition, and all those who have walked beside them. The sun and moon have long shared the same sky, finding their rhythm in one another and building a life along the same road.
Now, with their loved ones gathered to witness it, that shared journey is bound in the Eternal Knot, a promise to carry their love through every chapter still to come.
